Induction - Jason McCullagh
On Saturday 23rd January the new joint Pastorate of The Bridge Church Otley and Burley-in-Wharfedale URC Inducted orr new Minister, Reverend Jason McCullagh.
The Service was led by Kevin Watson, Moderator of the Yorkshire Synod and the address was delivered by Reverend Geoffrey Clarke, Minister and Ecumenical Officer of the East Midlands Synod. In his address Reverend Clark suggested that we should not become engrossed in the mundane activities of Church life, but to look at the bigger picture of God’s plan for the Church in the community and the wider world.
Jason was presented with gifts of a Bible and The Book of Common Worship of the United States of America Presbyterian Church (his choice) from the Bridge Church, Otley and Burley-in-Wharfedale URC.
Amongst the approximately 300 people gathered in the Sanctuary at the Bridge Church were Ministers and preachers who had supported both Churches during the three year period of vacancy. Also present were leaders of other Churches in the town and neighbouring URC Ministers. We were also pleased to welcome over 60 people from the Churches Jason has left in Scarborough, and also a number of people from Morecambe where Jason had previously been in ministry.
The afternoon concluded with refreshments which gave an opportunity to meet with old friends and new, and we hope to be able to welcome Jason’s family and friends to our Churches in the future as his ministry in Otley and Burley-in-Wharfedale develops.
We are looking forward to our future with Jason as we look to move forward in numbers and faith and build on new initiatives we have worked on through our period of vacancy.
